The Wells Academy is looking for a creative, innovative and an inspirational teacher to support the reintroduction of Design and Technology curriculum at KS3. The successful candidate will join an Academy with an experienced, committed, and a dynamic Senior Leadership Team, and will play a key part in the Academy’s remarkable transformational journey.

The Academy has worked hard in developing a fantastic culture for standards and behaviour and are now focusing on ensuring that all learners have the best curriculum provisions and learning opportunities, every lesson, every day. The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner who is committed to supporting students to become expert learners.

As a Leader of Design and Technology, the successful candidate will support the Assistant Principal responsible for Vocational subjects to ensure a world class Design and Technology curriculum, which instils a love for the subject in students. There will also need to be research informed options to develop KS4 study pathways.

We have well-resourced facilities for Design and Technology. There are two fully equipped food technology rooms, a product design workshop with a laser cutter, three art and design classrooms with a working kiln for ceramics, and a fashion and textiles studio. We also have experienced technicians who assist with planning and preparation of resources, and support students during lessons.

Working as part of the Greenwood Academies Trust MAT, you will be fully supported to develop and deliver an enriching curriculum that leads to students becoming successful.  You will benefit from a 25% reduction to your timetable, giving you the added capacity to develop your leadership footprint. We will welcome applications from teachers with existing leadership responsibilities looking for further progression or outstanding teachers looking to take their first steps into middle leadership. We will consider applications from different Design and Technology specialist areas including Product Design, Fashion and Textiles, and Food Nutrition. We want Design and Technology to be at the heart of the school curriculum that is very much student centered.
