Greenwood Academies Trust are keen to appoint an inspirational and innovative principal for this large Junior Academy in Peterborough.  The academy serves a diverse community and a committed team support the delivery of a wide range of academic and wider learning opportunities, including a well-established Forest School and strong programme of after school clubs. The ‘Den’ provides morning and after school clubs and all pupils have access to breakfast.

The academy has recently had an Ofsted (February 23) and is considered an ‘improving academy’. The new leadership team are making strides in addressing key priorities and know there is more to do. They are a committed and dedicated team with a clear vision.

The successful candidate will lead the development of the next stage of the academy’s improvement journey, alongside this new team.  You will lead the implementation of a broad and balanced curriculum which meets the needs of all pupils, through a comprehensive professional development strategy and role modelling high expectations and aspirations for all.  You will also work with the trust to further improve achievement across the academy, identifying areas for development through accurate evaluation and quality assurance whilst ensuring that you work effectively with the local community to maintain the strong profile of the academy locally. 

You will have support from the trust’s wide network of experts and have access to informal and formal professional development.

Are you a leader who:

  • Has relevant and up to date knowledge of teaching and learning strategies across the primary phase;
  • Is excited about working with colleagues to continue to develop an aspirational, inclusive and broad curriculum;
  • Leads staff effectively to deliver high quality learning experiences for all pupils, including those with high levels of educational need;
  • Has a thorough understanding of factors that influence pupil performance and how to overcome barriers to learning;
  • Has strong organisational skills and is relentlessness in driving educational improvement and raised standards for all pupils;
  • Has experience of leading and developing others;
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

Start date would be January 2024 or earlier, depending on the candidate’s current position.
