Family Support Worker- Safeguarding & Transitions

Medeshamstede Academy are seeking to appoint a Family Support Worker to join our pastoral team.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about ensuring that all children and young people have the best start in life and are dedicated to working with families to help to achieve this.

The role encompasses many aspects of supporting families including as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and will play an important role in improving students’ attendance and punctuality by working with students who struggle to attend school regularly and on time. The Family Support Worker will lead on day-to-day family support and deliver some pastoral interventions to identified students

The family support worker will work with families to put actions in place to help and support the whole family to enhance the child's wellbeing. They will develop good relationships with our families and identify the most appropriate support and external services to be utilised.

The Family Support Worker will also play an integral part in supporting transitions, this includes supporting students into Medeshamstede and liaising closely with families and previous settings, as well as students moving on to Post 16 settings. The individual will work as a part of the Pastoral team alongside Designated Safeguarding Lead and Attendance Lead.

The role will expose you to challenging situations involving students with significant Special Educational Needs; therefore experience of working with students with Autism would be advantageous.   Your application should demonstrate your experience, commitment, knowledge and passion for working with children with SEND and Autism, along with a willingness and enthusiasm to contribute further to the wider life and ethos of the Academy.

The successful applicant must be committed to their own professional development and be willing to engage in training opportunities. A Full UK Drivers Licence with ability to travel is essential to fulfil this role.
