Salary - £22,366 (£7,869 pro rata)

At Ingoldmells Academy we are looking for a new member to join our successful and welcoming team, to provide 1:1 support for the learning and personal development of a pupil with complex additional needs and/or disabilities. The role is based in our Nursery setting in the first instance, and will be in our Reception class in September. 

Start date 22nd April 2024, providing all relevant checks have been approved.

We need a skilled 1:1 Learning Assistant to enable the pupil to learn as effectively as possible by:

  1. Ensuring the pupil is able to use equipment and play materials by high levels of engaging modelling and supporting.
  2. Motivating and encouraging the pupil as required by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to their needs.
  3. Liaising with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals about Education and Health Care Plans (EHCP), contributing to the planning and delivery.
  4. Providing nurture and high levels of social support.
  5. Consistently and effectively implementing agreed behaviour management strategies.
  6. Helping to make appropriate resources to support the pupils.
  7. Providing intense support and guidance using knowledge of pupils’ needs to ensure continuity.

Desirable knowledge and experience:

  1. Experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant within a Primary school or Early Years setting. 
  2. Knowledge of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum.
  3. An understanding of inclusion, making the curriculum accessible to all learners.
  4. The ability to work in a team in order to achieve successful outcomes for learners.
  5. Candidate must possess minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Child Care and Education.
