Deputy Principal

Medeshamstede Academy (Peterborough)
Description

Salary: Leadership L15 - L21 (£66,628 - £77,195 FTE)

The curriculums you design will shape lives, not just lessons.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Leader to help shape the future of the Medeshamstede Academy, taking a focused lead on Quality of Education across the academy.

We’re looking for a exceptional senior leader who:

  • has experience of teaching young people with significant and complex Special Educational Needs and is committed to adapting learning to the needs of individuals
  • is able to lead the team of professionals working around the students and engage with stakeholders including therapists, the Local Authority and care workers
  • is dedicated to providing pupils with the best education possible and has the vision, passion and proven track record in school improvement to ensure significant improvements in performance across the Academy
  • Has an effective management style that encourages innovation and confidence and builds upon the positive culture amongst staff
  • can build positive relationships with staff, pupils and parents alike
  • is able to demonstrate the values that underpin our approach to supporting students

About us:

The Medeshamstede Academy opened in a new building in June 2013 to provide education for students from 4- 16. We are an all through Academy in which our pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for communication and interaction with a diagnosis of Autism as their main presenting need. There are currently just over 100 students on roll.

The Academy is on a rapid improvement journey and the new leadership team are working hard to ensure students receive the best education possible.

At Medeshamstede Academy, we understand that no two students will react to one lesson in the same way. So we go the extra mile to develop curriculums that will be absorbing, enthralling and above all life-changing – and that’s where you come in.

As Deputy Principal, you will collaborate with our Principal and senior leadership team to transform the way we think and work. Innovation is our watchword – we want to operate at the forefront of education for autistic pupils, many of whom have cognitive and sensory difficulties.

With fewer than 120 students and classes of between six and ten, each with two teaching assistants, we’re perfectly positioned to transform the way the world approaches autism and open our students’ eyes to their own potential and the opportunities around them.

In shaping their education, we ask one simple question: where do they want to be in ten years’ time and how do we get them there? You’ll do the same for our curriculums, taking a long-term overview whilst remaining resolutely focused on the little details that really matter.

More information on the Academy can be found here: https://www.medeshamstedeacademy.org/
